I am a first-time blogger and I have to tell you I have
never followed any blogger before. I read one or two posts here or there but
never continuously followed anybody. So, this world is new to me. Therefore, when
I logged in to Blogger I started to check every single theme and all the background
pictures that are available to have a feel for it. Most of the background
pictures I did not feel connected to or I wished it would be a little different
in some way. I shortlisted some of the them and I decided to sleep on it. The
next day when I looked at the shortlisted picks again, I came across one that I
had not noticed previously. I started to play around with it, and I felt
connected. This is the design you can see now.
And why did I pick this? There are many things I love about
this picture, this theme. First of all, it’s pastel colors. The pastel colors
are very harmonic, relaxing to look at it. And though sometimes pastel colors
can be dull, in the case of this background I felt that it is radiating a level
of clean style.
Second, it’s the color pink itself. I have noticed as I am getting older, I am starting to love pink and all of its shades more and more. Some people might think this would be the other way around. As a girl becomes a woman and approaches her forties, she is less likely to like “princess colors”. But it is different for me. I have more feminine clothes and I love the so-called feminine colors more.
Finally, I love how this picture looks like an abstract painting.
How the colors are flowing together like in a watercolor painting. I myself unfortunately
do not have much artistic talent, but I appreciate and love art. I think it is
a great blessing if you can express yourself through art, whatever form of art
it is. So, my way to express my feelings and thoughts is through other people’s
art.
In conclusion, I felt connected to this picture because I could
imagine wearing clothes with these colors or having a painting like this in my
house. Though I do not know yet what I will blog about, I thought if I find a picture
that resonates with me, then later it will also resonate with the thoughts I
will put into this blog.
I enjoyed reading about your thought process in choosing this design, I too was going to sleep on my design until I saw that I could upload my own custom photo. I really like the watercolor aesthetic being used with this photo, thats such a hard medium to master in the realm of art I have tried and failed with it.
ReplyDeleteI really relate to your design making process. I also had a difficult time picking my theme and over all design. I'm glad you have been embracing the more "feminine" aesthetic. I feel some people tend to stray away from it sometimes to avoid being labeled as overly "girly", but it should be something that is viewed as empowering.
